Diesel Powered Technology with CDL

New students enroll every month as space is available.

Students admitted to the Diesel Powered Technology with CDL program must have a valid driver’s license prior to admission.

Requirements: The following criteria must be completed before you are given a start date during the last trimester of the program, with the exception of the DMV check and drug test which you will be required to obtain 30 days before  you start the class (at a designated health care facility). You must pass the drug test and DMV check. If you do not pass the drug test and DMV check you will not be able to attend the class. You must also obtain the CDL Permit prior to class. Contact Anthony Luttrell to schedule a free permit prep class. The prep class is held once a month on Saturday.

Step 1:  Must be 18 years of age & a U.S. Citizen

Step 2:  Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s License

Step 3:  Obtain DOT physical (Certified Medical Exam).

Step 4: Must obtain DOT Learner Permit-TCAT Upper Cumberland offers CDL Permit Prep class.  Contact Anthony Luttrell at 931-267-6693 for date and time of class.                                                             

Step 5:  Complete TCAT Upper Cumberland's online application at https://tcatuppercumberland.edu/future-students/admissions

Step 6: Apply for financial aid at https://fafsa.ed.gov

Step 7: Submit copies of DOT physical (Certified Medical Exam), DOT Learners Permit, and Tennessee driver license. At this time, you will obtain a start date.    *Within 30 days of class start date: (If not submitted a week before class starts you will lose you start date)

Step 8:  Student will provide Student Services with the following documents:

Copy of your Ten Year Motor Vehicle Report. You can get your MVR by visiting https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/mvr.html or by going to the Driver Service Center at 136 Dooley Street Crossville, TN 38555.

Complete a drug screen at Quality Medical Center-15 Walker Hill Street Crossville, TN 38555. 931-484-1100

(Must pick up paperwork from TCAT Upper Cumberland to take to location).Quality Medical Center will contact you with results and then send a copy of the results to TCAT. A random drug test may be a possibility at any time.

Both items must be submitted by deadline. Any delay in the Admissions process listed above WILL DELAY ENROLLMENT.

Cost: There is financial aid available for this program for current TN residents. Student cannot have used the TN lottery or TN reconnect grant before. If eligible, the grants may cover up to $1200 of the $1503 tuition fee. Amount covered by the grant is based on eligibility. You must complete the FAFSA to apply for state grants. Go to www.studentaid.gov to fill out FAFSA. You can also visit your local career center to see if you qualify for financial assistance. Additional out of pocket costs: DOT physical, MVR report, DOT drug test, DOT learner permit, & licensure.
